METRO MINOR LACROSSE LEAGUE REPORTING POLICY FOR

COMPLAINTS, CONCERNS

CLUBS MUST COMMUNICATE THIS PROCEDURE TO COACHES AND PARENTS EACH YEAR.

The following procedures apply to anyone wishing to file a complaint about any incident occurring in any arena being used for MMLL games.  The complaint MUST start at the appropriate level and be in WRITING.  All complaints or concerns must be submitted within 48 hours of when the incident took place.  The following structure describes what type of incident should be reported and to whom a complaint should be directed:

 

On Floor Incidents During Games:

1.   Incident on the floor between players from opposing teams-referee applies Lacrosse Canada (LC) playing rules and penalties/suspensions will apply-referee files incident report with MMLL Suspension Coordinator.

2.   Incident on the floor during a game between a player and a referee-referee applies LC playing rules and penalties/suspensions will apply-referee files incident report with MMLL Suspension Coordinator.

3.   Incident during a game between coaches of opposing teams- referee applies LC playing rules and penalties/suspensions will apply-referee files incident report with MMLL Suspension Coordinator.

4.   Incident during a game between a coach and a referee-referee applies LC playing rules and penalties/suspensions will apply-referee files incident report with MMLL Suspension Coordinator.

 

Off Floor Incidents Before, During or After Games: 

5.   Incident off the floor during a game between spectators-referee can stop the game and request that the coach of the home team have the spectator removed from the arena (LC Rule 23 Situation 1)-referee files an incident report with the MMLL Suspension Coordinator who forwards it to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC; if referee is unaware of the incident, any person attending the game can intervene if they wish or at minimum can report the incident to their Club President who will forward the information to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC.

6.   Incident off the floor during a game between a spectator and a player on the floor-referee applies the LC playing rules to the players behavior and requests that the coach of the home team have the spectator removed from the arena (LC Rule 23 Situation 1)-referee files an incident report with the MMLL Suspension Coordinator who forwards it to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC; any person attending the game can intervene if they wish or at minimum can report the spectator portion of the incident to their Club President who will forward the information to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC.

7.   Incident off the floor during a game between a spectator and a coach on the bench-referee applies the LC playing rules to the coach’s behavior and requests that the coach of the home team (or the assistant coach should the coach of the home team be involved in the incident) have the spectator removed from the arena (LC Rule 23 Situation 1)-referee files an incident report with the MMLL Suspension Coordinator who forwards it to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC; any person attending the game can intervene if they wish or at minimum can report the spectator portion of the incident to their Club President who will forward the information to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC.

8.   Incident off the floor during a game between a spectator and a referee on the floor-referee reports the incident by filing an incident report with the MMLL Suspension Coordinator who forwards it to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC; anyone who witnesses this type of incident (referee, another player, a coach or a spectator) should file a written report to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC through their Club President.

9.   Incident off the floor during a game between a spectator and a player, anyone who witnesses this type of incident (referee, another player, a coach or a spectator) should file a written report to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC through their Club President.

10.                  Incident off the floor during a game between a spectator and a coach, anyone who witnesses this type of incident (referee, another player, a coach or a spectator) should file a written report to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC through their Club President.

11.                  Incident off the floor during a game between a spectator and another spectator, anyone who witnesses this type of incident (referee, another player, a coach or a spectator) should file a written report to the MMLL Commissioner and RIC through their Club President.

 

 

CONSEQUENCES FOR PARENTS/SPECTATORS AT MMLL GAMES:

 

FIRST OFFENSE:  WRITTEN WARNING

SECOND OFFENSE:  BANNED FROM ALL ARENAS/GAMES FOR 1 WEEK

THIRD OFFENSE:  BANNED FROM ALL ARENAS/GAMES FOR 3 MONTHS, TO CARRY OVER TO THE FOLLOWING SEASON IF NECESSARY
 

GENERAL COMPLAINTS OR CONCERNS CAN BE DIRECTED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING ‘CHAIN OF COMMAND’:

PARENT(S) OR TEAM PROBLEM

TO

TEAM MANAGER
(some complaints can be cleared up at this level)

 

TO

COACH
(some complaints can be cleared up at this level)

 

TO

CLUB PRESIDENT OR DESIGNATE
(most complaints can be cleared up at this level)

 

Please Note:

REFEREE CONCERNS TO THE MMLL RIC
ALL OTHER CONCERNS TO MMLL COMMISSIONER

 

DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE or APPEALS & PROTEST COMMITTEE

All written concerns will be forwarded by your Club President, to the appropriate committee (Discipline Committee or Appeals & Protest Committee), who will review the concerns, gather all pertinent information from all sources necessary to bring resolution to the problem.  Interviews will be held where necessary.  All decisions will be rendered in writing, in a timely manner dependant on the availability of information.  Decisions of the Appeals & Protest Committee shall be FINAL.
